Brake Pad Bedding In Process
- Posted on
A Sinter bedding machine service is a specialized brake pad and rotor break-in process for bicycles, performed by a bike shop mechanic to ensure optimal braking performance. The machine automates the bedding-in process, which is crucial for new brake pads and rotors to achieve their full stopping power and safety, right from the first ride. It involves a guided, automated sequence of braking to properly transfer material from the pads to the rotor.
How the service works
- Preparation:
Before using the machine, a mechanic will prepare the brake system by cleaning the rotors and installing new pads.
- Machine Setup:
The mechanic selects the correct mode based on the brake system & the wheel is placed in the Sinter Smart Bedding Machine.
- Automated Process:
The machine guides the mechanic through the braking procedure by using lights to indicate when to pull and release the brake lever & the correct amount of force to be applied to the lever.
Benefits of the service
- Improved Performance: Ensures new pads and rotors perform at their best from the start.
- Increased Safety: A correctly bedded-in brake system is a critical safety component.
- Consistency: It provides a consistent and reliable break-in for all types of bikes, from road bikes to e-bikes.
Per brake, the bedding in service is an additional $15 & can be added to our tune up packages or done on its own & is also performed on every new bike we sell.
